CLASSES AT MY STUDIO IN 2020
2020 CLASSES HAVE BEEN CANCELLED. MY 2021 SCHEDULE WILL BE ANNOUNCED BY SEPTEMBER 1.
I am fascinated with the richness that results from pattern making and the color variations that are possible. There is a mathematical aspect to pattern making that appeals to my interest in structure and order.
The Tapestry and Beyond Intensive is a boot camp like class limited to 6 people maximum. It covers material from both the Tapestry class and the Beyond Tapestry class plus more. The limited number of people allows for extended explorations of ideas with more one-on-one time with Richard. A complete range of material colors and types, including stringers, sheet glass, and frit will be available for experimentation and projects. People who have taken either Tapestry class are welcome in this class. This class is not offered at any other location.
Participants in this class will investigate physical and conceptual issues of surface and subsurface in kiln-glass. It explores the rich possibilities of working in bas relief using simple materials such as fiber paper to create complex forms, shapes and textures. Intricate surface relief, texture, color and light interactions are possible in "shallow space." Subtle changes in the levels of the surface and the interplay of light and shadow on the planes enable us to see and appreciate the composition. Cold working techniques remove layers and expose that which is below the surface.
Join me for an opportunity to explore ways of thinking about your artwork, making work that is your own, expressing your voice, and taking your glass fusing to a higher level.
